We have an exciting Internship opportunity for someone to support the US Ocean Commercial Center (USOCC) Freight Team for global RFQs and Spot Quotes. In this role you will assist the team in the creation of winning pricing proposals of Spot Quotes as well as RFQ’s. You will help create and maintain excel based performance dashboards. In addition you will assist in managing our rate repository database and help upload rates into our Quotation-Portal using sources of various formats. You will also be responsible for working collaboratively with other team members, partners and subject matter experts. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with a can-do attitude and quality focus as well as high comfort level with large rate databases. As a DGF Intern you will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in your area of study or specialization.
Internship Program Duration/Hours:
·Minimum 6 months and may be extended based upon performance
·Interns should be able to commit minimum 20 hours per week, additional hours may be available
·Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/rate repositories
·Automating data merge of multiple excel formats into one
·Create and maintain performance dashboards
·Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
·Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
·Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
·Manage and assist the Spot Quote and RFQ Team with preparing, finalizing, and delivering timely and winning rate quotations
·Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
·Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
·Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
·Follow Global OCC / RFQ process for all quotations and utilize standard templates.
·Assist department with assigned projects
·Comply with all deadlines set by the US OCC manager
Required Skills & Qualifications:
·Senior level undergraduate student majoring in IT, Computer Science, Management Information System or Supply Chain/Logistics or recent graduate with BA/BS
·Must have strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
·Must be comfortable with data management and creation/management of large excel files
·Experience in creation of Excel based performance dashboards
·Great attention to detail, multi-tasking, and proactivity skill sets required
·Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or above
·Expert MS Excel experience required (advanced VBA knowledge a must)
·Intermediate level in MS PowerPoint and MS Word and Outlook
·Strong oral and written communication skills
·Bi-lingual; additional languages are a plus
The US OCC Team Internship will commence in November-December 2019. Additional internship details including the start/end dates as well as schedules will be provided upon receiving an offer to join the program.
