Summary:

To manage the global customs & trade compliance and continuous improvements in the area of:imports, valuation, country of origin, HS classifications, export controls, reconciliation, security programs, trade agreements and KPI’s.This position will manage the import/export of all shipments for 1 Aluminum & Steel company and work directly inhouse at the brokers facility. 


Areas of Responsibility: 


·Work with the purchasers and vendors to complete import/export documentation to facilitate the movement in and out of Canada for all shipments


·To follow and maintain current standard operation procedures, policies, governmental laws and regulations concerning the importation and exportation of goods.


·Work with different internal stakeholders effectively to drive compliance with the local regulations and support the business growth.

  • Provide Trade Compliance advise regarding system implementations/changes impacting imports and exports.



·Global HS Classification–to maintain accurate data and daily maintenance of HS classifications


·Trade Agreements- and develop tools to maintain data global for all operation, including vendor solicitation, qualification


·Customs Security Programs – key resources and lead for supplier compliance and organization operations in regards to C-TPAT/PIP


·Ensure the Customs operation stably and compliantly based on regular internal audits


·Participate in the Customs audits

  • Familiar with customs regulations in various countries including processing trade, HS classification, valuation and import and export control, country of origin, reconciliations, security programs, trade agreements, etc.


·Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others through demonstrated expertise.


·Strong analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, able to learn quickly and work independently with minimum supervision


·Familiar with processing trade, duty-free equipment exemptions, China requirement for 3C’s and CIQ, same condition/manufacturer’s drawback, etc.


·Strong background around Customs Security Programs such as C-TPAT/PIP/AEO
