At the moment, we are looking for a Head of Sales & Business Development(m/f/d) who will be responsible for seeking new multi-national customers internally and externally, increasing sales efficiency & collaboration within customs and harmonizing sales and tender processes across countries to offer customers a true pan-European solution.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders to deliver the strategic sales objectives of the central customs department

  • Understand customer requirements and ensure a qualitative and competitive solution is offered  

  • Manage virtual teams of DHL Freight / Gerlach, locally as well as centrally

  • Seek new multi-country opportunities internally and externally

  • Increase sales efficiency in countries (i.e. harmonized processes)

  • Drive specific growth initiatives (i.e. sales campaigns)

  • Develop solutions meeting customer requirements together with functional experts and other stakeholders involved

  • Create compelling proposal documents highlighting customer needs and DHL solutions and USP’s

  • Prepare and conduct tender review boards

  • Align with legal team to ensure compliance and proper contractual agreement

  • Develop an efficient tender process for multi-country opportunities

Our perfect match: 

  • You have minimum 10 years of experience in logistics / customs industry as well as experience in business development

  • You have a Master or Bachelor degree in business management and / or customs area or equivalent by experience

  • You are a performance leader with customer solution focus and proven track record successfully closing new contracts

  • You show a strong customer affinity

  • You have deep customs knowledge as well as proven knowledge of sales / tender processes

  • You have process design capabilities

  • You have strong communication skills

  • You are a self-motivator and team player who is able to work well under pressure

  • You are a people manager and convince with interpersonal and social skills – across cultural boundaries

  • You have strong analytical skills

  • You are fluent in German / English, any additional language is an asset
