The One DHL Ireland Project Management Graduate Programme provides a unique opportunity for graduates to experience working across all DPDHL businesses; DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain and DHL Global Forwarding. Graduates will have exciting placement opportunities, working on medium to large projects to achieve real, successful project delivery. On completion of the program you will have gained the necessary operational knowledge and the technical ability required to be a successful Project Manager with a People Leadership & Operational focus within the logistics industry.

As a DHL Graduate, you will benefit from working within a variety of business sectors which will include working with some of DHL's high profile customers in our Consumer, Life Sciences, Retail, Automotive, Supply Chain Solutions & Transport, Engineering, Energy & Chemical sectors. Our graduates are empowered to take the initiative, actively get involved in different activity and achieve high impact results that really make a difference to our business, customers and the environment.

Supported every step of the way by a mentor and our Certified Managers, you'll take on new responsibilities from the very start and be given the chance to manage teams and projects. We are looking for people who have a real passion for Project Management and engaging with our customers to develop innovative solutions – therefore requiring customer and stakeholder management skills. You will be commercially aware, hands-on, analytical and logical. You will thrive on challenge and take a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment. You are ambitious and want to build a career within Project Delivery in the Logistics and Supply Chain industry.

What the Program looks like:

  • 24 month structured Programme
  • 3 x 8 month placement rotations
  • Based in either a site or central project team
  • Early responsibility and growth opportunities
  • Experience of working within fast paced environments
  • A framework of personal and professional development modules focusing on managerial skills
  • Regular performance feedback and personal development planning
  • Support towards in house Project & Change Management certifications
  • All placements are within our Ireland businesses

Scope of Role:

Assist the Project Management team to translate project requirements into project objectives and tasks and assist in the overall planning, control, status reporting, stability and project delivery

Utilize suggested project management processes and methodologies

Contribute to managing the budget and reporting progress of the project on an ongoing basis

Assist with the implementation and co-ordination of project communication plans

Assist the team to ensure project delivered on time, on budget, within scope and within agreed quality standards

Contribute to identify risks to the success of the project

Key Deliverables:

Support the implementation of strategic project management initiatives

Assist the PM in the overall planning, control, status reporting, stability and delivery of part of a work stream of a large project / a small project (single area or product) to ensure that project goals and objectives are met within agreed upon time, scope, budget and resource requirements

Contribute to identify and control issues on the project, drive resolution of issues for a satisfactory outcome and escalate issues as appropriate

Assist the PM to identify and control the scope of the project. Document scope changes and gain approval by required parties to ensure benefit realisation

Contribute to the control of the budget of the project and escalate all spending issues

Work towards becoming a subject matter expert in area where the project manager has expertise (e.g. automation, specific IT systems, inventory control etc.)Assist in the reporting project progress to all stakeholders in accordance with a well-structured communications plan and ensure all communication is tailored to stakeholder needs           

Monitor the health of the project, identify project risks and mitigation plans and ensure these risks are proactively communicated

Work as part of the project team to accomplish the tasks as outlined, manage change and deliver business benefits

Tasked with optimizing and improving processes and the overall approach where necessary

Support identifying the project resource, roles and responsibilities, SME's required to deliver the business benefits

Work towards key Project team performance KPIs

Facilitate and coordinate key business stakeholders throughout each project.         

Entry Requirements:

  • Our placements do not require a project delivery background, but you must have an interest in project management and project delivery within the supply chain & logistics industry
  • You must hold or be on track to receive a qualification of Level 7 or equivalent on the Irish NFQ by September 2021
  • Passion for providing an excellent service to our customers, with innovative ideas and practical solutions
  • Fully mobile to travel within Ireland (graduates must be resident in Ireland for the duration of the programme)
  • Must hold a valid Full driving licence at the start of the programme
  • Eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland for the full duration of the programme
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Enthusiastic and open-minded in getting the most out of the programme
  • Sensitive to diverse working teams and environments
  • Confident communicator- able to tailor communication style according to the audience
  • A “Can Do” attitude, and ability to be flexible in approach to different working styles, shift patterns and job roles
