Role Purpose

Support the leadership of the commercial & operational functions on behalf of SL EMEA Finance function. This role is responsible to support financially and commercially the sector team in respect of business opportunities, renewal & on-going commercial discussions and sector strategy and purchasing of the daily network operations, long terms competitive cost, performance improvement projects and ongoing commercial discussions and operations strategy.

Key accountabilities

Support Commercial topics:

  • Ensure all commercial risks and opportunities are fully understood.
  • Financially appraise proposals for new business, contract renewals and capital expenditure, ensuring an appropriate balance between reward & risk.
  • Support and continually develop SL pricing tools to ensure profitable business is secured on a multi-use platform
  • Undertake ongoing Strategic planning process and maintain long term goals
  • Support the BD in delivering / exceeding budget.

Support Operational topics:

  • Ensure all commercial and financial risks and opportunities are fully understood with our service providers
  • Reporting and internal communication of tangible bottom-line operational savings owned by operations.
  • Support and continually develop SL costing tools to ensure consistency across the multi use platform to allow best practice sharing and process improvement
  • Support and advise on benchmarks and develop costing strategies with suppliers to ensure best practice procurement and enabling market competitiveness service offering.
  • Report on network profitability , identify “bleeders” and support delivery of operational action plans to meet critical financial targets and business objectives
  • Ensures cost standards are implemented and safeguarded.
  • Support the operations team in delivering / exceeding budget.

Provide and challenge business performance on key operations and commercial activities:

  • Reporting and analysis on relevant business performance, supporting in delivering action plans to improve SL.
  • Challenge the relevant internal stakeholders regarding the quality of business information and their related action plans.

Challenge the business, specifically during budget & QBR reviews

  • Support the IBP process
  • Support the budget process ensuring a robust review of operational and commercial performance and targets.
  • All risks and opportunities recognized prior to crystallizing
  • Network operational costs delivered in line with expectations

What do we expect from you

  • Passion for Logistics
  • Excellent Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Bachelor or masters degree in Finance
  • Good understanding of finance topics and processes
  • Basic understanding of accounting
  • Experienced in working and accomplishing tasks within a cross-functional/matrix organization
  • Quality focused attitude
  • Strong drive to provide KPI’s, evidence and the result of analysis to support business decisions
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Able to build and maintain strong business relationship
  • Customer focused attitude
