Operations Development Manager

DHL Aviation manage Hub & Gateway operations and customs clearance and provides a comprehensive airport-to-airport service to DHL International. In addition, DHL Aviation makes available the services of its network to a wide range of logistics service providers. By ensuring that the aircraft is fully used, DHL Aviation is able to create an expanding Network of routes able to meet its customers changing requirements. From Track&Trace right through to proof of delivery (POD), every shipment receives the same high level of secure management.
An Exciting Opportunity has arisen within the Newly formed Operations Development Department. The Operations Development team is responsible for four main work streams covering Finance, Resource Planning and People, Operations QCC and Projects. The position of Operations Development Manager will be responsible for the management of Operations Development Department. You will have the opportunity to influence an shape the direction of EMA operations going forward. You will have a high degree of drive and enthusiasm and the ability to provide innovation and bespoke solutions for operational and administrative challenges. In this position you will be working with key stakeholders and senior leaders within the business, therefore you will need to possess a the ability to present and articulate project plans and proposals in a professional manner.
Key duties and responsibilities:
·Manage and direct the Operational Development and improvement of EMA Hub.
·Working closely with and supporting all organisational divisions onsite at EMA Hub, including but not limited to, Sort/Ramp Operations, Network Control, UK Express Operations, HR and Security.
·Establish, monitor, and revise formal agreements, policies, procedures and service level standards for a wide variety of 3rd parties
·Build and maintain reporting mechanism’s for all sort operations, in line with Finance / HR / Facilities.
·May support or be directly responsible for hub warehouse project teams and as such, direct service providers regarding hub development, modification and/or construction.
·Set priorities, assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
·Manage three or more staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing managerial subordinate staff.
·Develop, implement, analyse and directing the annual operating budget for EMA hub operations (non-personnel).
·Develops and/or supports annual capital expenditures from initial justification through acquisition.
·Establishes, monitors, and revises formal agreements, policies, procedures and service standards of all supporting 3rd parties.
·Implements and directs performance measurements and quality assurance programs for a variety of preventive and corrective maintenance disciplines, with such duties being performed by both internal and external resources.
·Ensure information systems, business processes, and associates provide for timely follow up on projects.
·Directly manages two or more exempt-level staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff.
·Determines priorities, assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and performance management processes.
·Identify, ensure recruitment, retain, develop, lead and motivate properly skilled departmental. Apply CIM methodologies into the everyday workplace with a focus on respect and results
·Define development plans, outline expectations, identify training needs, monthly one2ones, evaluate annual performances and propose pay adjustment and promotions of Performance Improvement staff in co-operation with local HR Department.
·Use authorized reporting tools, hold regular meeting with the structure and exploit the existing communication channel.
·Degree level education
·DHL Operational Network knowledge (10 yrs)
·Proven record in managing a team of people and proven track record in bespoke IT design
·DHL Operational knowledge of all functions (Sort, Ramp, NCG, Truck Watch)
·Understanding of general air cargo operations, associated aircraft and Aviation legislative policies.
·Strong People management skills and highly flexible
·Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across cultures.
·Ability to lead and motivate staff – Create an EOS culture
·Initiative and drive to promote and progress change in the organisation.
·Excellent strategic, analytical and negotiation skills.
·High Competency in Microsoft applications
·Ability to build bespoke IT solutions for Operations requirements
