Senior Procurement Cost Expert (m/f/d) Europe

Our Agile Procurement team is currently looking for a new team member in Europe. In procurement, we support all Business Units and deliver value through and beyond savings. Would you like to join us? Are you a Procurement professional, influencing partners and a capable leader?

Your main tasks will be:

Establish cost engineering expertise within the Agile Procurement Team and be dedicated towards Cost Structure Analysis, calculating product cost along the supply chain and customer added value from an End 2 End Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) perspective. To create sustainable advantage for all business partners, identify cost reduction opportunities in products and/ or technologies on the sourcing agenda. Implement process, tools and training that, through data Analysis & Analytics, provide cost estimation, cost analysis and assessment and identify improvement opportunities to maximize the business value. Successfully deliver (Focus Plus) projects while meeting the cost, timescale and quality parameters in line with overall business objectives and needs, DPDHL Group guidelines and policies.

Project Management

  • Instruct, direct and review the output of functional project team or individual project members
  • Identify and highlight deviations on project expenditure to adhere to defined project budget
  • Track project milestones, monitor/ report progress and performance against the project plan
  • Identify and resolve operational problems and minimize delays in the delivery of projects
  • Implement project risk mitigation action plans to minimize projects risks

Procurement/ Sourcing/ Market Analysis

  • Provide professional sourcing support for key business initiatives, supply market research / intelligence to support business decisions in investments and budgets and establishment of regional frame contracts
  • Identification of strategic sourcing opportunities and development and management of strategic suppliers

People

  • Act as a liaison between different project stakeholders
  • Provide first-hand experience with working at the interface of engineering, procurement and supply chain
  • Define project resources, conduct performance reviews and post implementation evaluations
  • Provide support on issues and problems from less experienced/ new team members, provide direction and guidance as needed
  • Manage and lead cross-functional teams and possibly coordinate activities of other personnel

Data / Cost Analytics

  • Drive big data analysis with advanced tools (e.g. evaluate offers, understand market development, build cost database) and therewith stablish cost transparency and initiate cost reductions
  • Create product cost models by following the product hierarchy and the supply chain, responsibly create a full cost build-up on the landed product should cost
  • Conduct outside-in analysis on product cost, verify assumptions and assess actual process costs
  • Drive and coordinate cost reduction potentials and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Prepare fact pack documents that support the negotiations and assist in negotiations
  • Train and coach cost engineering methods and processes within procurement and the businesses/functions and further develop Cost Engineering knowledge and approach within DPDHL
  • Perform (competitive) product teardowns and conduct independent supply cost estimates, plus generate and discuss value engineering ideas with the relevant value engineers/procurement teams to optimize the costs

Your profile should look like:

  • More than 10 years of industry experience (cost estimation and assessment)
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and mastering project management tools / methods with at least 5 large sourcing initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience in working in an international virtual interdisciplinary team
  • Very good ability and track record to analyze, model and interpret data
  • Problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven ability as well as track record to prioritize and think from business needs in order to identify and provide solutions best suited for a specific problem – consultative approach
  • Very good knowledge of Procurement systems and tools as well as Digital mindset
  • Previous agile working experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel minimum 50%
  • Fluent in English and great intercultural competency
