Continuous Improvement Analyst

Role purpose



 Following Key tasks are in scope for the role:



• Support projects & supply chain solutions / concepts from definition to implementation for new and existing Customer LLP accounts


• Supporting the implementation of strategic and tactical supply chain optimization projects.


• Supporting the growth of the LLP product across Europe, and working closely with sector and regional business development teams in the pursuit of new LLP business from concept to operation.


• Leveraging your operational experience to identify new savings and service improvement initiatives, and supporting the LLP teams in the continuous improvement and growth of existing business


• Supporting complex, multi-projects and co-ordinate and drive through the LLP Opportunity-to-Delivery (O2D) process


• Support the dedicated customer teams in implementing projects to drive value through gain share.


• Ensure a common approach to implementation and post implementation support is used globally across the business unit



The role has key responsibilities for the design, costing, optimization and specifically implementation of the following supply chain aspects:



• Logistics strategy


• Supply chain modelling, including strategic networks, facilities (warehouses, cross-docks & manufacturing logistics).


• Supply Chain Software solutions


• Supply chain processes design and re-engineering


• Sustainable supply chain development (e.g. carbon footprint and multi-modal optimization)


• Global support and implementation of the customer’s strategy



Focus area of current vacancy:


'- Support the implementation of Truck Pull Ahead


- Subject Matter Expert and contact for internal stakeholders and the customer development team


- Drive the integration of TPA into the business processes


- Drive the development of optimization strategies based on TPA


Key Accountabilities 


 Consultancy - Proactive and strategic/tactical LLP supply chain Projects

• Support the business development for LLP supply chain consulting services and projects to targeted customer, presenting approach, tools and benefits to key decision makers within the customer organization.


• To maintain awareness of developments, techniques and applications within DHL Supply Chain, other BU’s and the wider marketplace. To ensure that relevant technical skills are kept up to date, and we constantly present best practise and knowledge management back to our key customers.


• Work according to the O2D process (incl. preparation of COO, BRD etc. and Implementation)


• To adequately manage the risk of change associated with complex implementations


• Support the implementation of unique supply chain solutions, inc reporting, baseline monitoring etc "


Business Interactions:

INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS:



LLP team leads and Head of I2M and wider BD and KAM teams (sector / country / GCS / BU’s) in the pursuit of new business supporting the sales process by designing robust implementation plans, to give customers faith in the innovative and competitive solutions.


Wider solutions design & implementation teams (sectors / country based / BU’s) for approach, tools, knowledge sharing and joint project work. To cross-fertilize know-how of supply chain concepts between sectors, and focus on specific LLP expertise


Operations teams within the countries for the validation and seamless transfer of new LLP business. Design specification, implementation support and handover to RFQ teams and /or operations


Joint or Local Works Councils (e.g. lead / manage preparation of IT Information formats)


Dedicated Customer Teams to communicate and monitor a common approach to implementation and post implementation support.


IT teams to communicate appropriate high level systems implementation requirements for new or revised


Finance teams for the validation of costs for proposed LLP Implementations and the provision of commercial information to ensure that projects satisfy financial hurdles.


HR teams to communicate the appropriate HR business requirements (project headcount, recruitment needs, TUPE requirements etc.)


Innovation Centre - for the development and delivery of presentable content (innovative methodologies, tools and solutions) to support customer engagement activities in line with a consultative LLP selling approach


Other groups: DHL Envirosolutions - for the collaboration in ‘Go Green’ strategy and supporting with carbon modeling.


- Specifically the local plant teams and the tactical planning team are the main internal stakeholders.



EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS:



Client teams e.g. IT or HR –in the translation, validation and communication of their requirements into innovative and competitive supply chain solutions


External consultants / resources – supervision of external resources used to support the implementation process – e.g. other DHL resources (sector/country) / external IT providers


Our Customer in Europe – in the translation, validation and communication of their requirements into innovative and competitive supply chain solutions


To implement solutions in the above mentioned elements for:



- new business opportunities to realize new business growth


- renewals of existing business to retain & protect current business


- Growth and new operations within existing customers


- Gain share projects within existing customers



To ensure operations comply with the relevant legislation


Produce optimal implementation solutions for customer and DHL taking into account costs, service levels and/or CO2.


Support the production of business cases including high level costing and financial model


Manage multiple Implementations at a single time


• Finance teams for the validation of costs for proposed LLP solutions and the provision of commercial information to ensure that projects satisfy financial hurdles


• To be able to manage projects and the members of the project team in order to develop the best solution for both the customer and DHL within time and budget. This will require managing people on a matrix basis.


• Communicate the appropriate HR business requirements (project headcount, recruitment needs, TUPE requirements etc.)


• Access to other groups within the business to enable learning and sharing of best practice


• People management skills, including objective setting, resource allocation and performance review




Requirements for the job



• Cross-cultural awareness working within a matrix structure


• Experience in several divisions is desirable but not essential


• Ability to demonstrate analytical and logical thinking; translating many different real life situations into models that allow for scenario comparisons; data manipulation skills are essential to this role


• Able to assess existing operations (internal DHL / customer) and identify areas for improvement


• Good Project & Program Management Skills, with relevant experience


• Ability to quickly identify and asses key impacting risks and subsequent development of appropriate mitigation plans


• Ability to identify sustainable cost effective packaging solutions within complex supply chains


• Ability to assess the full financial and operational impact of packaging projects changes within customers supply chain and wider business


• Good communication skills; good listener and effective in communicating ideas. Frequently required to present to customer’s senior management teams in technical and non-technical terms


"• A good degree of computer literacy, with knowledge of CAPS, Cast, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word


- Experience with Customer application CMMS3 desirable


- Experience with Microsoft Power BI of advantage"


• Experience in several divisions is desirable but not essential




• University degree


• Degree in/focus on Supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration and/or mathematics – desirable.


• Other relevant technical qualification, like CAPS, CAST, MPL desirable


• At least 3 years logistics / operational experience with at least 5 years varied experience in a solutions design role


• Able to demonstrate successfully implemented solutions


• Proven track record in managing supply chain design projects


• Commercial awareness and understanding of key costs and cost drivers within the supply chain environment


• International business experience with ability to demonstrate good cultural awareness. Ideally in more than one country (other than home country).
