     The position of Principal Application Support Specialist acts as Global Service Owner for one or more multiple IT services being delivered to DPDHL business. Global Service Owner is a leader of application support team and he/she is primarily responsible for delivery of service(s). His/her primary focus is to ensure the maximum availability and quality of the service, according to the SLA. He/she also provides service consultation, service improvements, technical guidance and problem solving expertise with respect to complex technical issues, supports internal improvement initiatives and projects. 


Deliver assigned global service according to agreed SLA’s (TRT, Availability, Performance)

Act as a primary Global Service Owner regarding the RUN related activities (Incident management, Problem management, Change management, Capacity management, SW patching etc.) 

Manage service support resources and workload distribution across regions (matrix management)

Assures service knowledge is equally distributed between all Support teams Globally (matrix management)

Drive Service Improvement Plans to continuously improve service performance, incl. automations

Conduct detailed analysis of all defined systems-specifications and validate solutions being delivered by projects

Perform capacity planning, monitoring and systems tuning to ensure service availability and performance

Assures maintenance of production and also pre-production environments and systems 

Assess implementation options and recommend appropriate processes to customers

Ensure adherence to testing and installation procedures and resolve deviations

Follow quality standards and policies

Interact with members of the IT community and business to address both run and build/project topics

Actively participate in periodical Service review and assures customer feedback

Synchronize technical interaction with 3rd party vendors  


Very good understanding of IT infrastructure (HW, network, OS, DB, middleware)

7+ years’ experience with application support

Experience with Mobile devices management tools – Advantage 

Very good knowledge of Windows server based systems

Very good Knowledge of SQL

Advance DB knowledge (MS SQL) 

Knowledge of Unix-based systems (Linux, HP-UX)

Good knowledge of Middleware 


Organizational skills, ability to cooperate with people across regions

Very good communication skills, Can do attitude, Team player

Very good analytical skills and structured approach

Ability to work independently, self-motivation and self-confidence

Strong customer focus

Fluent English (written and spoken)
